The pilot study investigated the efficacy of topical Cetrizine, an antihistamine, for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The rationale for this study stemmed from the observation that Latanoprost, a prostaglandin analog used to treat glaucoma, can cause hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth). Cetrizine was applied topically (1% solution, 1 ml/day) to the scalp of men with AGA.

Key Highlights:

Topical Cetrizine significantly improved total hair density, terminal hair density and diameter compared to placebo after 24 weeks of treatment.
